Mr Dennis Har is not your average person. At an age where he may seemingly have seen and done all that he wants in life, he still has the burning passion to make a difference in society through upcycling and vertical gardening workshops. He is deeply interested in vertical gardening, hydroponics and aquaponics, having conducted many years of research in these areas.
He regularly conducts these trainings at Dignity Kitchen (Singapore’s first social enterprise food court run by disabled hawkers and hawker training centre, located at Serangoon), Residents’ Committees (RCs) and other venues and is an active volunteer with seniors at events like Seniors-Meet-Seniors Cafe sessions.
Some of his gardening and upcycling works can be seen below. As the far right picture shows, his vertical gardening prowess astounded even Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat!
He has completed Service Excellence and Service Professional WSQ courses at Kaplan, under a Study Award. He regularly learns new skills through SkillsFuture Courses such as the Acrylic Pouring Techniques lesson at First Media Academy seen below.
He regularly attends networking sessions and events such as the recently concluded National Blockchain Challenge 2019. His passion for various causes such as the environment, ageing and artistic design has even resulted in him entering an idea based on upcycling and gardening for Designathon for Dementia 2019, with the Hyper Erudite team!
Dennis is a man of many trades. He started working in a factory at a very young age, pulling in burnt/spoilt machinery, replacing parts and repurposing them. This enabled him to build a mobile stand to bring One Maker Group (OMG)’s CNC router to Mediacorp for a TV pitch. He was also heavily involved in making a plastic bottle cap recycling and remoulding machine for OMG.
Dennis also used to be an OEM shoemaker and had once even made a prosthetic leg at OMG for his brother while awaiting the doctor’s medical grade leg. The videos of his OMG works can be seen from his Channel 8 news coverage at https://www.facebook.com/100008162171749/videos/2440082059607176/
He is interested in starting his own mass customized, interchangeable, mix and matched shoes online business. He actively seeks potential technology partners who can bring the Industrial Revolution 4.0 to the shoemaking supply chain by extracting 3D sizing information of the foot from user entered data online to create a Shoe ID. Therefore, you will now have THE Shoe that fit your Legs without having to search for the RIGHT shoe size! Some shoes he has made before are seen below. His entire past works can be seen here
